EMPLOYEE BRANDING

Leah Matia – HR Practitioner

Every organization has a thing that makes it different and unique from the other organizations. These ranges from the number of employees, goods and services provided or even the name of the organization.

Branding is a very important tool in an organization because it distinguishes you from other companies. That name, mark, symbol, logo or word that is used to distinguish the organization from others is very important because it makes your consumers and clients know what to expect from your company.

After branding the company, employers seek to brand their employees to fit in the companies need.

Employee branding is a process by which employees internalize the desired brand image and are motivated to project the image to customers and their organization.

Employee branding involves presenting the company in the best possible light in front of customers, clients and other employees.

Organizations with strong employee brand have the ability to turn their employees to powerful brand ambassadors, improve loyalty, motivate, attract and secure right talent.

One thing the company needs to understand is after building a brand as in the product, the employees should be able to reflect the image of the brand. For instance your brand deals with hygiene products, how clean are your employees at work?

Do your customers see what you are selling to them in your employees or are totally opposite? Employees being the face of the company should be well equipped with skills and knowledge on how to promote the brand at personal level

However, employees will not be able to become the face of the organization if they are not involved in regular trainings to equip them with the skills and instill the brand message in their minds.

Employers should also listen to employees .This creates an environment where all employees feel like they have stake in sharing and communicating the brands’ message.

When the brand is built in them be sure that your business will increase business value, get new customers, employees will be satisfied and there will be trust among employer and employees.

Remember if you don’t build both your employee and your product you are at the verge of losing one and it will not be easy to work well when one is thriving and the other is stagnant.

The following traits portrayed by employees will enable the employers know if they have grown a brand in their employees to help them grow and become the organization’s brand ambassador.

Employees will be;

  • Passionate
  • Critical thinkers
  • Thrive on ambiguity
  • Embrace marketing
  • Think like entrepreneurs
  • Able to work independently
  • Look at things differently
  • Pursue mastery
  • Deal closers
  • Creative
  • Relish technology
